A presenter in the Lore Trailer states that the Hero's Dodgeball, "thrown with such force that it keeps forever spinning, providing the energy that propels our entire school," launched the way of life for the namesake academy. The Hero's Dodgeball, a relic of the Great Dodgeball Wars, has the ability to release the "Balltimate" power within students, bestowing supernatural abilities. The narrator then asks potential players to join Dodgeball Academia as the next great hero. The film Dodgeball Academia will be released on August 5th.

Dodgeball Academia will follow Otto, a new academy student, over the course of eight episodes. Players will make friendships and rivalries with their students as Otto, assemble the ideal dodgeball team with an eclectic set of pupils, and explore and learn the secrets of the academy. The game will include side quests and minigames, as well as unique and action-packed challenge modes and the chance to compete against friends in local multiplayer.

Level up Otto and build a dynamic crew in a broad and flexible party advancement system. Dodgeball Academia will be available on August 5 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Humble Bundle.
