Crossovers featuring fictitious characters from the DC film and comic realm are nothing new for Fortnite. In the past, iconic figures such as Batman, the Joker, Aquaman, Catwoman, Green Arrow, and The Flash have all appeared as playable skins. Harley Quinn, a member of The Suicide Squad, has also been introduced as a playable skin, however, her version is based on the 2016 Suicide Squad film. As of now, the Harley from The Suicide Squad has not made an appearance in Fortnite.
According to Shiina, a Fortnite rumor source, a forthcoming skin will be based on the Suicide Squad character Peacemaker. The notion was spread by a Reddit member who previously released details about a Bloodsport skin, which did eventually come to fruition. Shiina did mention that Peacemaker's own program on HBO Max is set to start in January, so it's possible that the skin won't be published until then to coincide with the show's launch.
RUMOR: We might get another Suicide Squad collab! The Reddit insider who privately leaked the Bloodsport collab before its announcement also mentioned Peacemaker as a collab alongside Bloodsport.Peacemaker's show comes out in January, so we MIGHT get a skin of him in January. pic.twitter.com/nDtWwh54VZ— Shiina (@ShiinaBR) August 22, 2021
This makes a lot of sense, especially given DC's prior trend when it comes to revealing another member of The Suicide Squad. Bloodsport first appeared in Fortnite on August 3, 2021, only three days before the premiere of The Suicide Squad in the United States. Although there is no official release date for the Peacemaker series, it is presently scheduled to launch in January 2022, thus this would be a natural period to expect the skin to be released.
Although many fans may see the timing of such a release as a cynical marketing tactic, it is undeniably advantageous to Fortnite and Epic Games. The Suicide Squad was a big hit, and the DCEU flicks are still hugely popular. Given how successful Fortnite and DC have been in previous partnerships, it makes sense for their next big release to coincide with a major event in order to maximize awareness. It might wind up being a huge win for both sides.
Fortnite is playable on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Android devices.
