This year represents the Kirby 30th anniversary of Nintendo's famous pink puffball, and the company plans to honor the event with a celebration.

This year is the 30th anniversary of Nintendo's pretty pink puffball hero Kirby, and the company wants to celebrate the event. When given the chance, Nintendo will normally honor the anniversaries of some of its largest brands in some fashion, and Kirby is one of Nintendo's most recognizable icons.

Nintendo announced plans to celebrate Kirby's 30th anniversary in some way this year via a tweet this morning. There was no word on whether there will be other Kirby game announcements, new Kirby items, or even a collection of Kirby games. Gamers will simply have to wait and see what Nintendo does to honor Kirby's birthday.

Nintendo highlighted "Kirby activities" in the Twitter tweet, and fans may also visit the official Kirby website to get a free wallpaper. At least one Kirby game will be released this year in preparation for the 30th anniversary. Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Kirby's first genuine 3D adventure game, will be released this March 25th. Kirby and the Forgotten Land's release date was also confirmed shortly after the 30th-anniversary celebration.

Mario's 25th anniversary was marked by the Wii remake of Super Mario All-Stars, and Zelda's 35th anniversary was marked by the release of the original The Legend of Zelda on the Zelda Game and Watch, which was published in 2021. Kirby's Dream Collection, a compilation of numerous Kirby games released in 2012 to commemorate Kirby's 20th anniversary, was the last first-party game released on the Wii in North America. Nintendo may issue another video game compilation, particularly given the enormous number of Kirby games that have been launched on the 3DS and Wii U.

Considering the present situation, a more likely scenario is something smaller, such as the 25th anniversary Kirby plush or the 30th-anniversary wallpaper that is now being given away. Kirby's first journey into 3D is also caused for celebration, and Kirby fans should be excited to see how Nintendo manages the transition from Kirby's regular 2D action into the third dimension.
