Elden Ring has been officially rated one of the best-reviewed games of all time. The Fromsoftware title has risen to the top of aggregation sites following the release of reviews.

After receiving near-universal praise from critics, the Elden Ring review embargo has been released, and the From Software game is already near the top of some 'best game of all-time rankings.

Elden Ring has the highest 'Top Critic Average' of 97 on OpenCritic, based on over 90 reviews at the time of publication – a feat matched only by Super Mario Odyssey, however, Nintendo's game currently has a slightly lower true average rating.

Elden Ring holds scores of 97 (PS5) and 95 (PC and Xbox Series X/S) on the review aggregation site Metacritic at the time of publication.

Elden Ring for PS5 is the 15th best-reviewed game of all time according to Metacritic. On Metacritic's all-time rankings, only 24 titles have scores equal to or greater than the PS5 version of Elden Ring, which is led by The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (99).

Elden Ring received full scores from 44 publications on OpenCritic, while the PS5 version received full marks from 24 of 40 outlets on Metacritic.

Elden Ring reviews are positive in comparison to those given to prior From Software games (the ratings below are based on the highest-rated platform version):

  • Dark Souls 3 (2016) – Metacritic 89 / OpenCritic 90
  • Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (2019) Metacritic 90 / OpenCritic 90
Metacritic and OpenCritic review scores for the PS5 version of Demon Souls (2020) from PlayStation Studios and Bluepoint Games are 92.

Elden Ring will be launched on February 25 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, after a one-month delay.
