There are a few periods when buying new games is more advantageous than during a major sale, when you can get several games for the price of one. At any given time, at least one game platform will be having a sale, with other reductions sprinkled throughout the year. PlayStation is currently up to bat, as the company is promoting its "Big in Japan" deal once again.

The Big in Japan sale gives up to 75% off some of Japan's most popular games, including smash titles like Judgment, Bloodborne, Scarlet Nexus, and many more. There are even some recent titles available for those who missed out the first time around, such as NEO: The World Ends with You, which is available for $29.99, a 50% savings from its usual price.

Not only are the savings substantial, but there's also a wide range of genres to choose from. JRPGs like Persona 5 are available for purchase, but there are also horror games, fighting games, strategy games, and more to choose from. There's something for everyone here, including games produced in Japan but with a Western flavor. The Evil Within 2 has, for example, been lowered as part of the deal.

The Big in Japan deal is already ongoing on PS4 and PS5 and will run till March 9. That allows gamers more than a week to get their hands on some large new games, though there are a lot of new releases coming out as well, so it all depends on what fans choose to buy. This month sees the release of Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring, two enormous open-world games. While only Elden Ring has a Japanese flavor, anyone ready to spend the extra cash on a new triple-A game should consider it.

There are also plenty of other games coming out in the next months, including important releases for fans of Japanese games. Ghostwire Tokyo, an action-horror game, will be released next month alongside Triangle Strategy, a 2.5D JRPG that looks a lot like Octopath Traveler. That is to say, gamers have a plethora of alternatives when it comes to discovering new games to play, and it will be a long time before they have exhausted them all. Given last year's relative drought, this is a promising sign.
