Among Us VR Has Reached a Significant Sales Milestone

Among Us VR, the virtual reality adaptation of the massively popular deduction game, has seen rapid sales success.

Among Us has already enjoyed tremendous success as a small-budget sleeper hit, and now it's breaking new ground as a VR title. The virtual reality version of the game, Among Us VR, has reached a significant sales milestone only a few months after its release, according to a recent report from the developer.

Although Among Us first debuted in 2018, its popularity didn't really take off until 2020. People who were stranded at home due to the pandemic enjoyed it as a way to maintain contact with those they were physically separated from. Streamers assisted in raising awareness of the title. Because of the game's rising popularity, the creators decided against making an Among Us 2 and instead focused on promoting the first one.

Late in 2022, Among Us VR was released, and now, 10 weeks later, the creator has provided an update on how it's doing. Despite only having been available for a short time, the game has reportedly sold over 1 million copies, according to a tweet from the official account. Additionally, players from 122 different countries have participated in over 4 million play sessions of the game. It seems the virtual reality adaptation of the game has pleased players, and with the developer promising updates to the title through the year, it's likely those numbers will continue to rise.

In addition to the original game's enormous popularity, Among Us VR is probably succeeding because more regular gamers are now owning virtual reality headsets. The Meta Quest 1 and 2 have contributed to this upsurge by offering a reasonably priced way to enjoy virtual reality without having to be connected to a potent PC. Additionally popular has been The Valve Index, and Sony's PS VR2 is about to go on sale.
