Call of Duty: Warzone 2 by Infinity Ward, a popular free-to-play shooter, recently received an update that makes suppressors less effective and forces players to reconsider their loadouts.
Unfortunately, Infinity Ward and Raven Software appear to have nerfed the game's suppressors in a recent update, which is bad news for Call of Duty: Warzone 2 players who have grown attached to their favorite silencer. Even though Raven Software had previously nerfed enemies in Warzone 2's DMZ mode in response to player complaints, balance adjustments to the free-to-play shooter are nothing new. Nevertheless, this most recent update is prompting some players to reconsider their entire loadout strategy for the game.
Call of Duty Warzone 2 is the second game developed by Infinity Ward and Raven Software and released in late 2022 as a result of the success of its predecessor two years earlier. The goal of moving the gameplay from the well-liked Caldera map to the coastal region of Al Mazrah was to keep the elements that made the first game popular while introducing fresh gameplay mechanics. Warzone 2 has received positive reviews from players despite some criticism of the gameplay adjustments and the game's numerous bugs.
Some players took offense to a change in gameplay that moved the notification of enemy gunfire from the minimap to the compass at the top of the screen. A hidden new Call of Duty: Warzone 2 update that gaming channel WhosImmortal examined is likely to make it harder to find enemies during matches as a result of this change. WhosImmortal explains in a new YouTube video that regardless of whether a player is using a suppressor or not, a recent update for Warzone 2 has completely removed gunfire notifications from the compass. Prior to this update, the only way for players to prevent their location from being revealed when firing was to equip one of the game's numerous suppressors.
With the help of this new update, players in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 can effectively evade detection without the aid of items or unique loadouts. Players might be tempted to remove the suppressor from their preferred loadout now that it's not necessary to blend in while playing, but WhosImmortal points out that the add-on can still be useful in some circumstances. The video explains how the suppressor, which is currently decidedly less necessary, can still be a useful tool for Warzone 2 players by talking about benefits like better stability and increased range for some weapons when equipped.
While some Call of Duty: Warzone 2 players are sure to dislike this new update, others will be able to breathe a little easier knowing that they won't be revealing their location with every shot. And in Warzone 2, players can always pose as an inflatable dummy if they are still being detected despite the new update.
There are currently versions of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
