A Pokemon fan imagines how Dragonite would appear if it were more like Dragonair

Pokemon players discuss their ideas for how Dragonite might appear if it had more of its pre-evolutionary traits.

A Pokemon fan imagined what Dragonite would appear like if it were more like Dragonair. Players may find some evolutionary lines in Nintendo's RPG series confusing as they attempt to understand how the various creatures are related. There is some confusion among the player base as a result of some confusing Pokemon evolutions.

The Pokemon Dratini is a member of one of these perplexing evolutionary lines. When it transforms into Dragonite, Dratini takes on a drastically different appearance from its subsequent form, Dragonair. One player made an image of the Dragon-Type pseudo-legendary that resembled its ancestors more closely.

kaltzer, a Redditor, shared artwork of a Dragonite that resembles Dragonair much more than it does in the video games. The pseudo-legendary Pokemon has been changed from orange to blue, which is the most obvious difference. The small wings that are located on either side of the user's head are added along with the beads and white horn that can be seen on Dragonair. The wings of Dragonite were also altered by Kaltzer, becoming larger and made of white and green feathers. Compared to what is actually depicted in the games, the artist's concept is much more appealing and makes more sense for the Dratini evolutionary line.

The work of kaltzer is being praised by many Redditors, who find it to be beautiful in some cases. Many players have been inspired by the piece to come up with their own "what if" scenarios for various other pocket monsters, including wondering what it would be like if Pokemon like Mimikyu or Seviper each underwent their own evolutionary process. One commenter said they preferred the orange color on Dragonite and suggested trying to dye Dratini and Dragonair the same shade of orange to match the pocket monster. The work of Kaltzer is a nice substitute for Dragonite and would work well as a regional variation in upcoming Pokemon games.

Kaltzer has produced alternate versions for other Pokemon besides just Dragonite. In order to make Sharpedo more closely resemble a real shark, the artist also imagined what it would look like if it were much longer. Additionally, they have created unique Typings for several pocket monsters, such as a Ghost/Ice Luxray and a Water/Dragon Swampert. The concepts that kaltzer has been developing are intriguing and might work as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's DLC. This method of creating alternate looks and forms for pocket monsters offers a number of concepts that could work for Game Freak's games and breathe new life into older Pokemon.
