According to a recent study, there are several surprising top ten choices for the most popular video game characters in the United States.

The most well-known video game character in America, according to a recent study. Some of the top ten choices may not be what the typical gamer expects, according to the study, which was based on Google search data collected over the past five years in the United States.

Fans have argued over who the greatest character ever is over the years. While some people have more in-depth discussions about writing and motivation, other people argue about which character could beat up another character. For instance, Pokemon fans frequently argue over which Legendary Pokemon are the best, and others dispute whether Joel from The Last of Us is a more compelling character than Kratos from God of War. Currently, it appears that one organization believes it knows which character is the most well-liked.

Based on the average monthly Google searches over the previous five years, casino industry experts CasinoBonusCA recently ranked the most well-known video game characters in the United States. In video games, Sonic from the Sonic the Hedgehog series was the most well-known character. The character received roughly 1.1 million Google searches each month, according to the casino experts. This was most likely caused in part by the 2020 release of Jim Carrey's Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The success of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 at the box office, which debuted at number one, confirmed Paramount's plans to create a fictional world based on the video games.

Pac-Man is the second most popular character, receiving an average of 758,300 hits per day in the US, with Florida accounting for the majority of those hits. With 635,000 monthly hits, Pikachu from the Pokemon series ranks third. The Ryan Reynolds movie Pokemon: Detective Pikachu caused these numbers to soar in 2019. Surprisingly, a different study revealed that Pikachu was not among the top ten Pokemon.

Kirby ranks fourth, with approximately 432,000 monthly search hits. Kirby and the Forgotten Land broke the franchise's sales record, selling over 5.27 million copies worldwide. Kratos from the God of War series ranked fifth with 209,010 monthly searches, owing to the release of God of War (2018) and its sequel, God of War: Ragnarok.

Yoshi, Princess Peach, and Bowser were ranked sixth, seventh, and tenth, respectively. Yoshi received 190,880 monthly hits, Peach received approximately 174,990 searches, and Bowser received 136,439. All three characters have been a part of the Super Mario franchise for decades, and their placements are likely related to the upcoming film. In November, the latest Super Mario Bros. Movie trailer was released, giving fans a better idea of what to expect. Mario, surprisingly, did not make the top ten, but was ranked 11th with 136,200 monthly hits.

Chun Li from the Street Fighter series and Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider series finished eighth and ninth, respectively. The former received 158,750 searches per month, while the latter received 138,940 hits. Street Fighter 6 is set to release in 2023, while Tomb Raider's next installment will be published by Amazon. It should be noted, however, that these Google hits may not accurately reflect a character's popularity. Many of these hits, particularly Pikachu and Sonic, could have resulted from someone looking up movie show times or where to buy a specific game. It is up to the individual to determine whether such searches actively reflect the characters' popularity.
