POCONO TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 27-year-old Towanda woman faces two counts of criminal homicide following a double fatal stabbing inside a room at Great Wolf Lodge in Monroe County, Pennsylvania. According to court documents filed by Pocono Township police, Metallica Rose Harrison allegedly stabbed her husband, Charles Harrison, and their 3-year-old son before calling emergency dispatchers and attempting to take her own life.
The 911 Call and Police Response
Emergency responders were dispatched to Room 2030 at Great Wolf Lodge shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, following a distressing call received by the Monroe County 911 center. The caller frantically reported needing assistance to end her life after failing to sever her neck vein, while concurrently advising dispatchers that both her husband and young son were already deceased inside the suite. Upon arrival, responding officers encountered Harrison near the entryway bearing severe lacerations to her left wrist and superficial puncture marks across her neck. She was immediately taken into custody under police guard and transported by emergency medical personnel to St. Luke's Hospital - Monroe Campus for treatment.
Evidence Recovered Inside the Room
Upon entry into the resort room, investigators discovered the bodies of Charles Harrison and the couple's 3-year-old son positioned on separate floor mattresses, both having sustained fatal chest trauma—the father with multiple wounds and the toddler with a single knife entry. On-scene forensics recovered two teal-green-handled knives, including a butcher knife from the bathroom floor and a smaller knife inside the sink, which resort management confirmed were not property of the lodge. Search protocols further yielded scattered prescription pill bottles alongside plastic containers holding suspected blood. Resort surveillance logs indicated that after checking in on September 21 and extending their stay through October 13, the room door was last unlatched from the inside late Sunday evening prior to Monday afternoon's emergency call.
Court Proceedings and Legal Status
Following medical evaluation and discharge, Metallica Rose Harrison was formally arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge on two counts of criminal homicide. Judge Kresge denied bail in accordance with Pennsylvania state law for capital offenses, and Harrison remains remanded at the Monroe County Correctional Facility while law enforcement continues investigating potential motives surrounding the tragedy.
