Cyberpunk 2077 is making a comeback on the PlayStation Store On next week

Cyberpunk 2077's PC release was problematic, but not disastrous. But it's a different scenario on consoles. According to Metacritic, The PC version has an overall rating of 86, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions have ratings of 57 and 61, respectively. The scenario was so terrible that Sony removed the game from the PlayStation Store a week after it was released, offering full refunds to everyone who had purchased it there.

Sony has issued a statement on the comeback of Cyberpunk 2077, warning gamers on the basic PlayStation 4 that performance difficulties will persist. Instead, Sony advises playing Cyberpunk 2077 on the PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 Pro until more updates are released.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been delisted and withdrawn from the PlayStation Store for almost six months. However, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that their sci-fi RPG will return to the PlayStation Store on June 21, 2021.

Since then, it's been a bit of an albatross around CD Projekt's neck. The studio has been improving the game's status with updates and updates, and in April joint CEO Adam Kiciski pledged to make it something "that we can be proud of," However, there was no sign that Sony would relent and re-release Cyberpunk 2077.

That is no longer the case. IGN noted earlier today, six months after its disappearance, that Cyberpunk 2077 was once again featured on the PlayStation Store—through just for wishlisting, not a purchase—and now CD Projekt has confirmed that it will return in full next week.

"The Management Board of CD Projekt S.A. with a registered office in Warsaw publicly reveals Sony Interactive Entertainment's intention to reinstate the digital edition of Cyberpunk 2077 on PlayStation Store, effective June 21, 2021," the firm announced in a regulatory notice.

It's a somber, all-business announcement, but it's a significant milestone for CD Projekt. The business made no bones about the importance of returning to the PlayStation Store in its most recent quarterly report, stating that the CD Projekt Red division's financial success "will substantially depend on the sales volume of games set in the Cyberpunk and The Witcher universes." As a result, two variables will influence Cyberpunk 2077 sales: the continuous availability of updates and free DLC, and "Cyberpunk 2077 has returned to the PlayStation Store."

Kiciski repeated his pledge to turn Cyberpunk 2077 around at the end of May, stating, "We aim to live up to what we promised." Despite the fact that the game has been available for over a year, he claims that over half of the development staff is still working on current releases or forthcoming next-gen editions.

Unfortunately, Cyberpunk 2077's reintroduction to the PlayStation Store does not indicate that the game's issues have been resolved, and Sony has cautioned that PS4 customers will likely continue to have issues with it.

When Cyberpunk 2077 was published in December 2020, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game had significant performance difficulties. As a result, on December 17, 2020, PlayStation stated that Cyberpunk 2077 will be removed from its digital store.

In addition, CD Projekt Red established a generous return policy, offering full reimbursements to anybody who is unsatisfied with Cyberpunk 2077. According to CD Projekt, 30,000 refunds were granted, and the firm stated at a financial conference that removing Cyberpunk 2077 off PlayStation "affected" total sales, even on other platforms.

"While CD Projekt Red works to enhance stability across all platforms," Sony informed IGN, "users will continue to encounter performance difficulties with the PS4 edition." "For the greatest experience, SIE suggests playing the game on a PS4 Pro or PS5." CD Projekt has been working hard to enhance the game's performance on PC and consoles, delivering several bug fixes and updates. Its upcoming PlayStation release might indicate that enough problems have been resolved to fulfill Sony's quality assurance standards.
