From an entry in Epic Games' store database, Final Fantasy VII Remake may be coming to PC. According to data entries in the Epic Games Store database, Final Fantasy VII Remake may be making its way to the Epic Games Store.
According to VG247, the database displays two value attributes named after the Square Enix role-playing game. The numbers, which can be seen on the public database, relate to a Final Fantasy VII Remake save file and user directory inside Epic Games' games folder, implying that the title will be available on the Epic Games Store. This would follow in the footsteps of other Square Enix games, such as Kingdom Hearts, as well as Square Enix's current efforts to expand its PC distribution. While the item does not explicitly state that Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released on PC, it is a strong hint.
Remake of Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy VII Remake has been upgraded and rereleased as Intergrade (a partial remake of Final Fantasy VII). Intergrade will be released on June 10, 2021, only for PlayStation 5 consoles, as announced during Sony Interactive Entertainment's "State of Play" digital livestream on February 25, 2021. The game includes many upgrades and new bosses, as well as FF7R EPISODE INTERmission, a new episode centered on Yuffie Kisaragi.
Square Enix developed and released Final Fantasy VII Remake, an action role-playing game. The game is a recreation of Final Fantasy VII, a PlayStation game released in 1997. Square Enix intends to release the game in episodic episodes, with the first one set to hit the PlayStation 4 on April 10, 2020, with timed exclusivity running until April 10, 2021.
Players take control of mercenary Cloud Strife and the eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE as they battle the corrupt Shinra megacorporation for the right to use the planet's life essence as a source of energy. Events lead them to Sephiroth, a legendary soldier who seeks to possess the life essence in order to become a demigod. The gameplay blends real-time action with additional strategic elements, akin to Dissidia Final Fantasy.
Like Final Fantasy XV, both exploration and fighting mechanics take place in real time. The game uses an updated version of the original's "Active Time Battle" (ATB) system, which slowly fills up or may fill up quickly with strikes. Once it's full, the player can utilize special skills like magic, artifacts, and special techniques to stop the activity. These unique powers can also be assigned to shortcut buttons, allowing the user to play in real-time without pausing. The ATB bar is depleted by each special ability. At any moment, the player can switch between party members. Cloud's close-quarters melee strikes and Barret's long-range distance attacks are examples of each party member's unique abilities. Magic and summoning will also be available, and a Limit Break gauge will let characters to conduct more powerful attacks once charged. While the game will have more real-time aspects, producer Yoshinori Kitase noted that there would still be strategic components, such as choosing weapons and spells for each character to use.
Given Square Enix's track record with PC ports, it's possible that Final Fantasy Remake VII may be released as an Epic Games Store exclusive for a few months or longer. This does not ensure that the game will be unique to the shop or that it will not be released on Steam or elsewhere at the same time. Given the recent exclusivity extension following the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade, Final Fantasy VII Remake will stay licensed to PlayStation for the time being. After the time expires in December, a PC port might be revealed.
Final Fantasy VII Remake and its next-gen equivalent Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade, both developed and published by Square Enix, are currently available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
