Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil Village DLC was in the works during its E3 2021 presentation. This new content was created in response to fan demand. As a result, many in the game's community were ecstatic to hear the news, and fans are now wondering what this new DLC will involve.

Capcom has the potential to shock the industry with a wholly unexpected expansion concept. However, there are a few scenarios that appear to be extremely likely. Here are six of the most talked-about, practical, and exciting DLC release scenarios for Village.

The Villains' Season

Unless Capcom truly wants to break the rules of the game, they could remove the heroes from the DLC. Instead of more shooting, why not create DLC centered on some of the game's best villains? By granting the player control of a villain, the DLC can continue to reuse the Village while also providing the player with new abilities and goals tailored to each of the villains they choose to feature.

In a DLC starring Lady Dimitrescu, players could hunt escaped prey inside the castle, inverting the cat-and-mouse dynamic seen in the base game. It'd be great to see more of Our Dear Tall Vampire Lady and making her a playable character could provide an interesting new perspective. Another possibility is to go into Heinserberg's history, maybe during a failed revolt against Mother Miranda. Heisenberg is constantly ready to betray Miranda and be liberated from the village during the events of Resident Evil Village. So what if he's previously tried and knows he won't be able to accomplish it alone? There's a lot to discover about each of the Four Lords' pasts, so this is another direction Capcom might go with Resident Evil Village's DLC.

Supportive Mercenaries Mode

When it was revealed that The Mercenaries would be incorporated into Village, supporters rejoiced. This version of the game mode is entertaining, although it does have some flaws. One likely possibility is that the game's DLC will contain a Mercenaries mode with a number of fan-requested features, such as cooperative play.

One of the most cherished elements of Resident Evil 5, and even the much-maligned Resident Evil 6, is the Supportive Mercenaries mode. Adding the functionality to Village would definitely extend the game's lifespan and increase fan satisfaction. The upgrade may also include a more conventional supportive Mercenaries experience, as well as new areas and weaponry. However, many fans would prefer to have this supportive option as a free DLC update for the main game rather than paying for it.

Fifth Lord of the village

Miranda was the mother of four children. But what if there has a Fifth Lord of the village? Miranda didn't even want to be near a failed experiment. If the prospective Fifth Lord of the village was rejected by his family long before the events of Resident Evil Village, creating his own kingdom in another area of Europe, it would be simple to explain how a strong bioweapon survived the Megamycete annihilation.

Chris's Hound Wolf Squad may be called in to track down Mother Miranda's lost kid, and the addition of a new Lord could lead to more of the innovative gameplay we've seen thus far. Each Lord's location is based on a particular Resident Evil mechanic, with the emphasis on hiding, battling, or even escaping in accordance with each Lord's personality and abilities.

Village of Shadows

When Ethan Winters arrives in the titular hamlet at the start of the game, the few remaining people are cowering in fear of the horrors that lie beyond. The village has already fallen, and the player is left to look at the ruins of what once was. A prequel tale explaining how the hamlet collapsed might be a more substantial addition to the game.

It would be intriguing to see the dilapidated and haunted sections of the village that the player has grown to know as a flourishing community. The prequel would most likely follow characters like Luiza and Elena, who only appear briefly in the main game, fleshing out characters that didn't receive much screen time.

Chris Redfield - A Side Story

Chris Redfield and his Hound Wolf Squad make infrequent appearances throughout the Village narrative. It is eventually revealed that Chris and his crew have been looking for Rose and tracking Miranda while keeping Ethan in the dark. A side narrative in which players take control of Chris and investigate what the Hound Wolf Squad was up to throughout the events of the game would be a great way to reuse assets while creating a distinct tale that provides players a different view of the main plot.

While some fans would prefer a sequel to the game's conclusion, in which Chris takes aim at the BSAA, this is considerably more likely to be included in Resident Evil 9, which is currently in production. The secondary narrative perspective allows gamers to learn more about Redfield and his team without jeopardizing Capcom's goal for the sequel.

Rose in the Future

A now-adult Rose visits her father's grave in the Village post-credits scene. Rose appears to have had training from Chris Redfield and is employed by some sort of anti-bioterrorism outfit. It's a no-brainer for Capcom to follow up on this hint, and it's something they're quite likely to do in the future. This story will most likely be carried through DLC rather than Resident Evil 9 since Capcom is unlikely to desire such a huge time jump in the game because it will prematurely age other legendary characters.

The precise path that Rose's arc will travel is unknown. This DLC may take a more action-oriented approach, displaying some of Rose's incredible Mold abilities, or it could take a lot more horror-focused approach, following a novice Rose who isn't yet equipped to deal with the danger of BOWs. This path has a lot of promise, and it's still the most likely for Village's DLC.
