The Witcher 1 is available for free during the GOG WitcherCon Sale.In honor of the online WitcherCon event, gamers can download and store a copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition for free via the GOG Galaxy app.

Video game players who have yet to play the first game in The Witcher series can get a free copy thanks to a GOG deal. The Witcher: Enhanced Edition presents Geralt of Rivia in his first video game debut, which many gamers who have only played the multi-award-winning The Witcher 3, which was recently introduced to PS Now, have missed.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition is a dark fantasy game featuring a real-time combat system and a rich and sophisticated narrative that explores what it it means to be good versus evil. The game was originally launched in 2008, however it wasn't the most successful in The Witcher game series, therefore many players missed out on the wonderful journey. The third Witcher installment, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is undoubtedly the most well-known in the genre. When it was published in 2015, the game gained critical acclaim, and it has subsequently gotten DLC expansions and even a Nintendo Switch port. The Witcher 3 has sold over 30 million copies globally as of April 2021, according to CD Projekt Red.

The Witcher 1 is available for free during the GOG WitcherCon Sale.The free game promotion correlates with the upcoming WitcherCon event, which will include game creator CD Projekt Red and several cast members from the Netflix show presenting in several panels to salute the series. WitcherCon has begun early for fans, with a series of Witcher-inspired activities and crafts released on various official Witcher social channels. The official Twitter account of The Witcher even offered a free download that allows anyone with 3D printers to manufacture their own Witcher wolf's head medallion. WitcherCon begins today, July 9, and will be streamed on Twitch and YouTube. It should have plenty for lovers of the books, Netflix show, and games. There will be sneak peeks of both Netflix's The Witcher season two and the upcoming animated feature picture, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, which will also be available on Netflix.

During the event's panels, CD Projekt Red will discuss the games in two ways: "Memories from the Path: Stories Behind the Witcher Games" on July 9 and "The Witcher: Beyond Video Games" on July 10. While the panels will feature a number of CD Projekt Red developers who have worked on the series' games, no new Witcher titles will be introduced during WitcherCon.
