Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida has announced that the game will not appear at the Tokyo Game Show in 2021, despite having skipped this year's E3.

Final Fantasy XVI fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the game at the forthcoming TGS(Tokyo Game Show)  will be disappointed to find that the game will not be represented. FF16(Final Fantasy 16) was introduced at the PS5 showcase event, and it was later confirmed that it would be a console-exclusive for a limited period. Unfortunately, there hasn't been much news about the game since then.

FF16(Final Fantasy 16) returns to the series' high-fantasy roots and is being developed by the same Square Enix team that worked on FF14(Final Fantasy 14). The gameplay is focused on the action-RPG style of games like Final Fantasy 15 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake, rather than the turn-based manner of older games. The story takes place in a universe with six nations centered on a gigantic crystal the size of a mountain. There isn't much known about the plot, other than it involves a character named Clive Rosfield, who sets out on a journey after an incident in which Ifrit goes insane.

FF16(Final Fantasy 16) was conspicuously absent from E3 2021, especially after Square Enix held a show jam-packed with announcements. The 2021 TTGS(Tokyo Game Show) , which will take place from September 30 to October 3, is the year's next significant event. Naoki Yoshida, the producer of FF16(Final Fantasy 16), appeared during a fourteen-hour-long livestream of FF14(Final Fantasy 14) and was queried by Yoko Taro about the possibility of seeing the game at Tokyo Game Show 2021. Yoshida has stated that the game would not be shown at the event. On Twitter, aitaikimochi translated Yoshida's reaction into English.

Now what is interesting is that Yoshida mentioned that he didn't want to release information in stages because he wanted to show it when it was nearly ready to be released. This means that FF16(Final Fantasy 16) isn't close enough to completion to be shown again in public. Although Yoshida stated that Square Enix wanted footage to be shown, this is the same business that disclosed the Final Fantasy 7 Remake five years before its release. It'll be interesting to see how this conflict of interests influences the future of Final Fantasy 16.

Unfortunately, TGS(Tokyo Game Show) 2021, in particular after a year's silence, will not see FF16(Final Fantasy 16), although the pandemic stopped the creation of several video games.. Final Fantasy fans around the world will now have to wait and see which game hits shop shelves first: FF16(Final Fantasy 16) or FF7(Final Fantasy 7) Remake 2. At this rate, it might be either of them. Fans have seen more footage of FF16(Final Fantasy 16) in action, but FF7(Final Fantasy 7) Remake 2 has the framework of the previous game to work from, so the race to be the next big entry in the series is on, unless Strange of Paradise beats them to the punch.

Final Fantasy 16 is currently under development for the PlayStation 5(PS5).
