343 Industries has revealed that the first multiplayer technical preview for Halo Infinite will begin tomorrow, Thursday, July 29, and will remain through Sunday, August 1.

Halo Infinite, the franchise's sixth main release, has been in development for quite some time. Halo 5: Guardians was released six years ago, and owing to a variety of causes, including the coronavirus pandemic, the release date of Halo Infinite was pushed back to Holiday 2021. Halo Infinite's aesthetics and performance were heavily criticized at the gameplay reveal in July 2020, therefore the delay allowed developer 343 Industries to fix those aspects.

Halo Infinite will have a free-to-play multiplayer option on Xbox Series X that supports 120 frames per second, and the first season of the game will be modeled on Halo Reach, one of the series' most critically lauded entries. The mode will include a number of fan-requested features, such as equal beginnings, where all players start with the same equipment and crossplay across Xbox consoles and PC.

The preview's content will also be live-streamed by the Xbox developer beginning at 2 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. BST on Wednesday.

The playable preview is only available to individuals who have signed up for the Halo Insider program, and invitations are starting to arrive in inboxes today. According to 343, “hundreds of thousands” of people will be invited to the test, which will focus on a new multiplayer game in which human players will compete against AI bots.

On Arena maps, the Bot Arena playlist pits four players against four Bots. Slayer will be featured in Bot Arena's first technical preview on three maps: Bazaar, Recharge, and Live Fire.

In the period prior to Halo Infinite's release later this year, 343 plans to organize more "flights," which it claims will include new content such as classic PVP Arena and Big Team Battle.

Xbox gamers may now sign up for Halo Insider by logging up with their Gamertag, validating their e-mail address, and opting in for communications and flighting.

To be eligible for the technical preview, 343 emphasizes the importance of completing all procedures. Over 100,000 people have attempted to join up without completing all of the needed steps, according to Brian Jarrard, Halo community director at 343.

"I know folks are tired of seeing all the Halo Insider reminders - I assure you we're not teasing," he said. “The fact is that we have a LARGE number of persons (six figures) that signed up but did not complete all of the necessary processes. It pains me that they will lose out on this opportunity.”

If you didn't get an invite to this latest beta test, known as a Flight, make sure you're a member of the Halo Insider Program, which allows fans to engage in hands-on early access tests of Halo games while they're still in development and provide feedback. Because each Flight has its own set of objectives, not all Insiders will be able to participate in every test. Because this next tech preview is particularly for testing Halo Infinite's multiplayer feature, Brian Jarrard, Community Director at 343 Industries, revealed that a large number of invites will be sent out.

In Halo Infinite's multiplayer, there will be an Academy mode that will allow beginners to train with various weapons, learn some Halo lore, and put their abilities to the test against bots. This will allow gamers to practice in a multiplayer setting without the stress of competing against real-life opponents who may be more experienced.

Players will be able to try out Halo Infinite's Weapon Drill modes during the multiplayer technical preview, which starts on July 29. This will allow 343 Industries to see how intelligently the Academy bots move and respond when confronted with real players, such as their ability to dodge grenades and use the game's new grappling hook. Recruit, Marine, ODST, and Spartan are the four levels of bots, each one smarter and more reactive than the one before it.

During the E3 conference in June, Microsoft confirmed that Halo Infinite will be launched this holiday season alongside its free-to-play multiplayer experience.
