The Epic Gaming Store has made two additional games available for free download, as well as announcing the first free game for September 2021.

Every Thursday at 10 a.m. CT, the Epic Games Store releases a new free game, and this Thursday is no exception. The Epic Games Store is now offering two free games entirely free of charge, with no membership required. Users only need to download the Epic Titles Store launcher to get started, and while they're redeeming the current free games, they can also get a sneak peek at next week's free game.

Void Bastards and Yooka-Laylee are two free Epic Games Store games that are presently accessible. Both games are unusually high-profile debuts for the Epic Games Store, which favors smaller, more unknown indie titles in its free gaming offerings. Anyone who wants to claim Void Bastards or Yooka-Laylee for their Epic Games Store collection should do so before they are pulled from the lineup on Thursday, August 26 at 10:00 a.m. CT.

Void Bastards and Yooka-Laylee will be replaced by Team17's indie game Automachef when they are removed from the Epic Games Store's free games list. From August 26 to September 2, Automachef will be a free Epic Games Store game, after which it will be replaced by a new game or two. As a result, Automachef will be the first free Epic Games Store game in September 2021.

Automachef is a resource management game with puzzle-solving components, for people who are interested. It was created by Hermes Interactive and released by Team17 in 2019, receiving mixed reviews at the time. However, while mixed reviews are generally a good reason to avoid purchasing a game, perhaps those who get to play it for free will have a greater appreciation for the title.

The Epic Games Store usually gives out two free games every week, although it occasionally only gives out one free game. When it came to the first Epic Games Store free game for July 2021, it did something similar, just providing customers The Spectrum Retreat as the single free game.

Meanwhile, it will be fascinating to watch whether the omitted Epic Games Store free game is ever added to the list. Speed Brawl was scheduled to be a free Epic Games Store game in August, but it was withdrawn at the last minute and replaced by Minit instead. This was allegedly due to technical problems, but no new dates for Speed Brawl being a free Epic Games Store game have been revealed as of this writing.
