Due to the fact that it is sixteen years old, the horror gaming community, as well as gamers in general, have begun to talk about Resident Evil 4, especially since there have been some hints that an official remake may be in the works, though the studio has not revealed anything. It's not surprising that fans want a remake or remaster of the fourth installment, which is the most well-known RE game in the series. Until then, there's still the VR version to look forward to, and recent developments have revealed a release date.

Resident Evil 4 would be coming to the Oculus Quest 2 at some point, it was announced back in April. There wasn't much information available at the time, but according to an IGN report, this port will be available on October 21 for the VR headset. The article also includes a link to a short trailer that includes some familiar elements from the 2005 game, but clearly from a first-person, virtual perspective.

Whereas the VR version of Resident Evil 4 will retain all of the original game's classic elements, there will be one major change. Players will now be able to access their weapons and health items directly from their "virtual body." To incorporate the new perspective and interactive elements, the puzzle items and typewriter save points have been tweaked as well. While it may not be exactly the same as a remake to some, it should still provide a fresh take on one of the franchise's most popular films. Of course, this implies that it is only available to Oculus Quest 2 owners. It's unclear whether additional VR ports will be made available.

A potential Resident Evil 4 remake has been teased so much at this point that it would be remiss of Capcom not to acknowledge it. It's possible that the company is working on one right now, but until official sources confirm this, fans can only speculate and cross their fingers.

Even though RE4 VR is only available on the Oculus Quest 2, it gives the classic a fresh lease on life. The fact that it is only available to a limited portion of the gaming community is sure to have certain negatives, but it will at least keep the game on people's minds for the time being. As a result, there's a chance that talk of an official remake or remaster may persist.

Resident Evil 4 VR will be released on the Oculus Quest 2 on October 21.
