In the video game industry, The Sims 4 stands out as a one-of-a-kind experience. It's obviously a life simulation game in which players may build unique characters, houses, and families, and so much more, which is unusual in the video game business. However, The Sims 4 distinguishes out because of its very varied player base. It's something Maxis' development staff is so proud of that it's advertised in job listings.

Consider a recent Maxis job posting for a Senior Game Designer. A paragraph in the listing's introduction praises the game's "extremely distinctive player base" and boasts that women between the ages of 18 and 24 account for 60% of The Sims 4's audience. Of course, it emphasizes this for a purpose, requiring candidates to have "deep insights" into developing the greatest experience for its distinct player base. In other words, Maxis continues to welcome and support this broad player base.

It's been almost seven years since The Sims 4 was released. Outside of living service titles and MMOs, that's ample time for most gamers to go on to another game. Nonetheless, Electronic Arts continue to support The Sims 4 today. EA published the Cottage Living expansion pack for The Sims 4 in 2021, along with the Dream Home Detector game pack and the Paranormal Item stuff collection. The Sims 4 support is still active.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is launching to Nintendo Switch

It's likely that EA and Maxis aren't ready to move on because of The Sims 4's distinct and diversified playerbase. Who knows if The Sims 4's distinct playerbase, a rare video game with a majority of female players, will be carried over to The Sims 5? Maxis would have to recreate the success of The Sims 4.

Of course, this is fantastic news for Sims 4 gamers. This Maxi's job listing confirms this notion, as it appears to be crafted particularly for employment on The Sims 4 and its community. In this limited glimpse into what the team is thinking, there's no indication that EA is ready to move on to anything else.

Globally, the number of women who play video games is increasing. In the United States, around 48% of women have played a video game, although just 6% of them identify as "gamers." The Sims 4 isn't the only game that caters to a high percentage of women in its audience. According to a 2020 poll, games like Minecraft, Rust, and Fortnite have a sizable female following.

The Sims 4 is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
