DICE's Head Of Design For Battlefield 2042 is Leaving for following release of Battlefield

Gaming News Toisthe - Following the release of Battlefield 2042, DICE's Head of Design is leaving.

He's been given another opportunity that he can't pass up. After his departure at DICE, there will be a lot of huge shoes to replace.

DICE's Head Of Design For Battlefield 2042 Is Leaving

Fawzi Mesmar, DICE's head of design, quit the company shortly after the release of his previous project, Battlefield 2042. He's been in charge since 2019 and has a long history with EA's main studio.

Mesmar worked on a number of projects while at DICE, including Star Wars Battlefront 2, Battlefield 5, and, most recently, Battlefield 2042.

Battlefield 2042 was released earlier this month, and now the company's head of design, DICE, is leaving. Fawzi Mesmar is departing the company, according to VGC, as he had planned to do once the firm's most recent title was released. He worked on both the Battlefield and Star Wars: Battlefront franchises after joining DICE in 2019.

In his email, he also stated that he will be joining another studio due to a very attractive offer. His next role will be based in Sweden, but the specifics have yet to be revealed. Mesmar has had a tremendous career thus far, and his contributions go far beyond his DICE projects. His personal website says that over the course of 18 years, his career has taken him to locations all over the world, where he has worked as a game designer on the Persona and Candy Crush series.

In an email to staff, Mesmar wrote, "It was an absolute pleasure to serve on the best design teams in the galaxy." "Every day, your wonderful design work continues to excite me. Thank you for having faith in me; I hope I didn't let you down."

Mesmar stated that he was offered a job at another company that he could not refuse and that his new employer was gracious enough to wait for Battlefield 2042 to ship. "Being here with the team as we achieve this historic milestone was extremely important to me," he explained.

He and DICE studio boss Oskar Gabrielson have been talking about his succession plans for a time, and whoever takes over his position will be named later. They wanted to postpone the announcement so that the team could focus on releasing Battlefield 2042, which is a tentpole title. Mesmar will also spend his next role in Stockholm, Sweden.

Mesmar's resignation has been confirmed by EA, who told VGC, "DICE's Fawzi Mesmar will be leaving at the end of the week. We congratulate him on his achievements and wish him well in his future endeavors."

He's also the author of the first-ever Arabic game design manual, as well as co-authoring nine comic novels. If that wasn't enough, he's also a mentor and gives game design seminars at several schools. In the year 2020, he also won the Game Dev Heroes Award in the design category. His departure from DICE will undoubtedly leave some large shoes to fill.

It's worth mentioning, though, that his departure comes at a time when Battlefield 2042 is experiencing some difficulties. Players have had a lot to complain about, from non-existent hit registration to a missing scoreboard. Battlefield 2042 has also received a slew of bad Steam reviews, making it one of the platform's lowest-rated titles this year.

Despite a lead designer constantly reacting to fan concerns on Twitter, it appears that the community's morale is still poor. DICE just highlighted the fixes it's releasing with its current patch in an attempt to improve it, but there's still a lot of work to be done.

In such a situation, a high-level post being vacated could be cause for concern, but because Mesmar stated that the studio was already looking for his successor, it appears that DICE has everything under control.

Due to a huge amount of bad reviews on the Steam platform, DICE has announced big improvements and modifications coming to Battlefield 2042. Fans have complained about the game's botched debut and the lack of legacy features.
