Fans are plunging back into Sinnoh now that Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are available in the wild. Of course, in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players will be journeying into Hisui, which is the ancient name for Sinnoh when it was discovered and populated by humans. This brings these games even closer together, yet a new teaser for Pokemon Legends: Arceus has appeared in the BDSP.

Players know relatively little about Pokemon Legends: Arceus, but several of its enhancements, particularly its Hisuian versions, have been shown out. These are most likely ancient forms that gradually become irrelevant in terms of evolution. So far, this has included fan-favorite Pokemon like Zorua/Zoroark and Growlithe, but Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl may contain hints of another.

There is a new book in the Canalave library that was not there in the original Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum, as first pointed out by Joe Merrick, the webmaster of beloved Pokemon site Serebii. It narrates a story about the prince of the sea, the East Sea, and other things while naming Mantyke, Buizel, and a "Qwilfish with gigantic spines" in the process.

This topic is remarkable for two reasons. To begin, it bears many parallels with the Pokemon Ranger and Temple of the Sea films, but there are a few differences. There is no mention of the East Sea in the movie's synopsis, and while Mantyke and Buizel appear on various posters/movie art, there is no mention of "Qwilfish with gigantic spikes" in the film/art.

Moreover, this corresponds to Pokemon Legends: Arceus rumors that Qwilfish would receive a Hisuian variation. This is by no means confirmation of the rumor, but it is "quite suspect," as Merrick argues. It could have been a simple Easter egg to Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, but the alterations are significant. They have to be deliberate as well.

If and when Nintendo/Game Freak announces Qwilfish's Hisuian Variant, it'll be intriguing to see what its massive spikes look like. Not to mention that Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are still very young, and there may be more additions/changes like these to be discovered in Sinnoh. Finally, it will be intriguing to see how far the connection between Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, and Legends: Arceus may go. It may be limited to teasers and Easter eggs, but it demonstrates the potential.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are now available for the Nintendo Switch.
