Bully 2 is reportedly back in development, with a possible presence at The Game Awards in the plans.

On Monday, industry insider Tom Henderson revealed on Twitter that people have been shown a 'playable' version of the game.

After certain people were shown some material suggesting a revelation shortly," he added, "Bully 2 was expected as a potential surprise announcement at The Game Awards last week.

At the time, information is a little hazy, so I'll have to be a little vague here, but if I learn more, I'll let you know. Some individuals saw a 'playable version' just a few of weeks before to The Game Awards," he subsequently noted (not the canned version). As I have stated, information is now hazy. But I thought it was worth mentioning because there's obviously something 'going on with the series.

Game Informer's assistant editor Blake Hester appeared to back up Henderson's claim, tweeting the Bully logo with the words "New news coming 2 you soon.

Hester has now secured his Twitter account, and his colleague, Game Informer video editor Alex van Aken, has stated that the tweet is not a reference to Bully 2.

According to VGC, a sequel to Bully was in the works in the early 2010s but was shelved after 18 months of development.

According to people familiar with the development, Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser and a small group of his most trusted developers developed a script for Bully 2 as early as 2008, which included the first few scenes and an idea of the rest of the tale.

The plot revolved around Jimmy, the hero of the original game, and had many returning characters. According to a source, it all started at Jimmy's stepfather's house in the summer at the conclusion of a school year.

Another different well-placed source informed VGC that the crew never decided where the complete story would lead Jimmy and that one option being discussed was presenting some of his time back in education, either at school or college.

If these fresh allegations are correct, Bully 2 appears to be back on the table, albeit without the involvement of co-writer Houser, who left Rockstar in 2020.
