The Night of the Moth Update 1.6.2.16 for Fallout 76 is now available on all platforms. The update will include a new Seasonal Event, as well as changes to the Quality of Life and you can jump into the game to experience new quests and seasonal events as soon as the maintenance is completed, but first, let's take a look at the patch notes for update 1.6.2.16.

A new seasonal event has begun in Fallout 76 and will be available to all players until the end of the third week of December, bringing with it a new set of quests that will bring you up close and personal with the Mothman cult.

Furthermore, the Fallout 76 Night of the Moth update includes some quality-of-life improvements to the looting system and Pip-boy customization, as well as fixes for some of the previously identified issues.

Mothman Equinox Seasonal Event:

Point Pleasant has been taken over by a swarm of robed figures who plan to celebrate the Mothman Equinox. "The Enlightened" is Mothman's most devoted followers, and they intend to perform a complex ritual to summon the cryptid. The players' mission will be to protect the group while gaining Mothman's favor.

The Mothman Equinox Seasonal Event will take place every hour from today until December 21 at Point Pleasant in Appalachia's Forest region. Begin the event by speaking with Interpreter Clarence on the Mothman Museum's roof. If you complete all tasks, return to the Mothman Museum's roof to finish the summoning, commune with the Wise Mothman, and have a chance to earn new themed plans. The Seasonal Event will bring Cultist High Priests to the area, and players will be able to deal with them to earn Mothman Cult-themed rewards.

Season 7: Zorbo's Revenge

New Scoreboard: Join forces with Dr. Zorbo on the "Zorbo's Revenge" Scoreboard as he travels from planet to planet recruiting a top-tier team to take down Captain Cosmos.

New Allies: As you progress through the Scoreboard, you will gain access to Xerxo and Katherine, two new Allies who can assist you in your C.A.M.P.

To Rank 100 and Beyond: You can surpass Rank 100 once more to continue earning additional rank-up rewards until the end of Season 7.

Improving One's Quality of Life

  • Looting of corpses nearby.
  • Legendary Loot Distribution.
  • Sharing XP as a team.
  • Create a "New" Tab in the Build Menu.
  • Pip-Boy Keychain
  • Color customization for the Pip-Boy menu.
  • There's ammo everywhere.

Fixes for bugs.

Art
  • While wearing the Crypt Crook outfit, the player's hands no longer clip into rifles and shotguns.
  • Blood Eagle Charmer, Treasure Hunter, and Radstag Hide outfits now correctly hide underarmor when equipped.
  • Graphics: Players who are killed by a Flamer will no longer see flame visual effects when they respawn.
  • Graphics: A bug that caused enemy and player corpses to become temporarily invisible after being killed has been fixed.
Workshops & C.A.M.P.S.
  • Displays: The Pepper Shaker is now available for display in the Heavy Weapons Stand.
  • Fences: Red Cedar Hedges placed in a teammate's C.A.M.P. can now be moved, stored, scrapped, and so on by the owner of the C.A.M.P.
  • Flags: The Clean U.S. Wall and Pole Flags have been carefully hand-washed and are now much cleaner than before.
  • Floors: The Haunted House Floor's C.A.M.P. budget is now consistent with other types of flooring.
  • Miscellaneous Structures: Cut the C.A.M.P. budget that was being consumed by many large neon signs and billboards.
  • Roofs: The Haunted House Roof's C.A.M.P. budget is now consistent with other types of roofing.
  • Roofs: The Haunted House building set now includes a windowless variation of the Haunted House Roof Slant.
  • Stash Boxes: A fix has been implemented to reduce the number of times the Secret Stash Bookcase and other Stash Boxes appear open even when they are closed.
  • Tables: The Wavy Willard's Round Deck Table now appears in the build menu's "Tables" category.
  • Walls: Powered Doors with Keypad Access now snap to foundations correctly.
  • After applying wallpaper to the right fascia pieces of the Haunted House, the walls no longer flip.
  • Season Gameboards no longer have their own build menu entry, but instead, appear as variants in a single row under Wall Décor.
  • Workbenches: Attempting to use a Power Armor Station built near a wall or another object no longer results in a "Waiting for response from server" error message.
Challenges:
  • Combat: The lifetime challenge "Repair 76 Swords" now correctly awards Atoms when completed.
  • Social: The lifetime challenge "Revive 76 Players" now correctly awards Atoms when completed.
  • Social: The subchallenge "Use Photomode at Burdette Manor" for the social challenge "Use Photomode around the Forest Region" has been changed to "Use Photomode at the Kill Box."
  • Weekly: The "Kill Huge Creatures" challenge is now advanced by killing a Hermit Crab.
  • World: Constructing a wooden instrument now correctly advances the "Possum: Musician" challenge.
Combat:
  • Enemy Health: A fix has been implemented to significantly reduce enemy health "rubber banding," which can occur when damaging them with certain weapons, such as the Pepper Shaker.
Daily Operations.
  • Arktos Pharma: Changed the spawn location for Daily Ops inside Arktos Pharma so that players have more room to move and are less likely to start the Op by accident.
Event and Questions:
  • Loading Screens: When quickly traveling to a Public Event, loading screens now correctly display additional event information.
  • The Motherlode: After completing the Motherlode event, Melody Larkin will no longer warn the player about church bells in Charleston. Melody, your terror reign is over.
  • Project Beanstalk: Pharmabot-JD7E no longer becomes hostile toward the player after being hit by NPCs during the event.
  • Vital equipment: When donating a recovered item, players now gain the appropriate amount of Foundation reputation.
Worlds Of Fallout:
  • Menus: The Shared Worlds menu now more quickly reflects changes to a shared Custom World after the world owner makes settings changes.
  • Settings: Crafting quest items with Free Workbench Crafting enabled now consumes standard crafting materials.
  • Setting: When PVP is set to "Always," players in that world will now be marked as hostile to one another.
  • Private Adventure: A bug that prevented players from joining Private Adventure worlds from the main menu while on a team has been fixed.
Items.
  • Aid: Addiction debuffs are now suppressed correctly after consuming an item to which the character is addicted.
  • Ammo: Fixed an issue that could result in less ammo being produced than expected when attempting to craft large quantities of high-caliber ammo while equipped with the Ammosmith Perk and Ammo Factory Legendary Perk.
  • When equipped, the Hooded Rags outfit no longer removes armor or underarmor.
  • Apparel: When equipped, the Wrapped Cap can now be worn with eyewear and some face coverings, and it no longer removes facial hair.
  • Backpacks: After applying the Corvega skin, the name of the player's backpack now updates correctly.
  • Exploit: Fixed a bug that could be used to consume fewer materials when crafting legendary items.
  • When lanterns are inspected, they now show a preview image.
  • Melee Weapons: The Valorous Alistair Sword Skin can now be applied to a plethora of other one-handed melee weapons.
  • Scrap Assaultron Heads are no longer displayed upside down in Display Cases.
  • Miscellaneous: When placed in a Beer Stein Display Case, Cold Steel Beer Steins now face the same direction as other Steins.
  • Mods: Using a Jetpack mod on a Secret Service Chest Piece no longer makes it invisible after logging out and back in.
  • Mods: The Communist and Red Communist Jetpack mods are now available for Ultracite and Raider Power Armor torso pieces.
  • Mods: A bug that allowed players to apply a Jetpack to Excavator Power Armor has been fixed.
  • Mods: A bug that prevented a Minigun with the Shredder mod from dealing damage if the player had 5mm ammo in their inventory has been fixed.
  • Mods: The Power Armor Helmet Targeting HUD mod now highlights hostile NPCs who were previously passive before the player initiated combat with them.
  • Northern Lights Power Armor skin can now be applied to all types of Power Armor.
  • Ranged Weapons: When fired in VATS, the Salvaged Assaultron Head now deals the correct amount of damage per charge.
  • Ranged Weapons: A bug that prevented weapon bash attacks from dealing damage after applying a mod that increased the weapon's melee damage has been fixed.
  • Flares now properly ignite when fired into the terrain or at a structure.
  • Tinker's Workbench and Scrapbox are now correctly oriented in the APC Survival Tent.
Localization:
  • Achievement: Steel Reign's Accomplishments In the Simplified Chinese game client, achievements are now properly translated.
  • Quests: In the Simplified Chinese game client, I corrected missing characters in the "Unsolved: Missing Girls" note during the "Unsolved: Picnic Panic" quest.
  • Quests: In the Japanese game client, I corrected missing characters in the "Suspicious death of Alicia Shay" note during the "Treasure Unknown" quest.
Npcs:
  • Allies: The Settler Forager Ally can now give the C.A.M.P. owner Daily Quests once more.
  • Minerva: Item Plans and Recipes that the player has previously learned will no longer be available for purchase in Minerva's inventory.
Stability and Performance:
  • Client Stability: A crash that could occur during normal gameplay has been fixed.
  • Client Stability: A crash that could occur when fighting a Daily Ops boss has been fixed.
  • Client Stability: Resolved an audio issue that could lead to a client crash.
  • Client Stability: A bug that could cause the client to crash after a short period of fast travel has been fixed.
  • Client Stability: Modifying laser and plasma weapons no longer crashes the Russian game client.
  • Server Stability: A bug that could cause a server crash during normal gameplay has been fixed.
  • Server Stability: A server crash that could occur during combat has been fixed.
  • Server Stability: A bug that could cause a server crash during the Meat Week Seasonal Event has been fixed.
Perks:
  • Friendly Fire: The Friendly Fire Perk can now be used to heal allied NPCs. 
User Interface:
  • Controls: The quick-swap button can now be used to switch between offensive and non-offensive weapons, such as the Pro-Snap Deluxe Camera.
  • Main Menu: Resolved visual issues that could occur after idling on the main menu for a long period of time.
World:
  • Ultracite Veins: Scorched no longer spawns when mining ultracite veins near fissure sites.
