The four-hour documentary about the history of Xbox has been released by Microsoft.

Power On: The Story of Xbox was first announced last month during Xbox's 20th anniversary live, and it will be released in six episodes, each lasting approximately 40 minutes.

The documentary covers the full history of the Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and doesn't seem shy to talk about their low moments, with episodes called after the Xbox 360's famed red ring of death and Xbox One's ill-advised focus on TV services.

The series is available for free on YouTube, The Roku Channel, Redbox, Microsoft, and IMDbTV, among other places.

The following is a list of episodes, along with YouTube links: Power On The Story of Xbox & Discover why in this six-part series that takes you behind the scenes of Microsoft's video gaming console's humble beginnings. It's the unsung narrative of the folks who created the box, complete with flaws.

Chapter 1: The Renegades: A tiny group of upstarts is tasked with telling Microsoft that it is time to enter the console market. The first chapter of Power On: The Xbox Story. Xbox was on the verge of being canceled.

The idea began almost three years ago with a simple question: "Does the history of Xbox have a compelling story?" Tina Summerford, Xbox's head of programming, was asked this question during the company's 20th-anniversary webcast last month.

As it turns out, the answer was yes, certainly. As a result, we teamed up with an Emmy Award-winning documentary film crew to delve further into the tale and help bring it to life.

At its heart, it's the narrative of how Xbox began as a passion project for a small group of Microsoft gamers and grew to become a source of joy for Xbox players all over the world.
