PlayStation has announced the 22 upcoming PS4 and PS5 games this year 2022

The year 2021 was a big one for Sony and the PlayStation 5, with a lot of big games coming out in the first year of the console's life. The console's first full year on the market was busy, with highly anticipated new titles from major series like Call of Duty: Vanguard and breakout blockbusters like Deathloop arriving. Now, as we approach 2022, Sony has demonstrated that the PlayStation 5 has a lot in store for the following 12 months.

PS5 owners are in for a busy year ahead, with a slew of new titles set to arrive in the months ahead, as well as in 2022 and beyond. With Elden Ring, Dying Light 2, and Horizon Forbidden West all releasing in early 2022 (especially February), it's becoming increasingly enticing to track down Sony's ever-elusive platform.

The first full year of the PS5's life saw numerous major companies push out next-gen experiences, including a number of announcements and reveals about the console's future. Long-awaited games such as Elden Ring received a slew of new details, with From Software's latest epic finally getting a firm release date in February. Popular PS4 games such as Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding were also ported to the next-generation console. Sony has now released a list of titles for the PS5 that will be available in 2022, entitled 22 in 22.

The large list of titles planned to debut for the system this year includes some of the greatest names the platform has seen thus far, with Sony's own Horizon Forbidden West at the top of the list. Massive names such as the previously mentioned Elden Ring and the upcoming God of War: Ragnarok join the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and Dying Light 2 in the top 5 from the gaming behemoth.

Whereas many PS5 titles were released in 2021, Sony's challenges to keep up with the high demand for the newest PlayStation console intensified. PS5 sales have been limited since its September 2020 introduction due to semiconductor shortages that have plagued the electronics sector. While many fans are still having trouble getting their hands on a PlayStation 5, Sony is assuring that those who do get one will have plenty of titles to play until 2022.
