SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash Isn't What You Think It Is

SNK Corporation has officially announced SNK Vs Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash on the Nintendo Switch eShop, and it isn't the game that some might think.

SNK Vs. Capcom: Cardfighters' Clash is now available on the Nintendo Switch, but it isn't the game that many might think. The SNK Vs. Capcom crossover series began in 1999 with the release of SNK Vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium and SNK Vs. Capcom: Cardfighters' Clash for the Neo Geo Pocket. Several further titles in the series have since been released on various platforms. SNK Vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium was just ported to the Nintendo Switch and PC.

It's been nearly 15 years since the last brand-new SNK Vs Capcom game was launched, and both companies have indicated that no more crossover titles will be released. Both firms, however, have partnered with other titles and brands to include their characters. Characters from the SNK and Capcom franchises, in particular, have appeared in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate can be found as a playable character, a spirit, or as Mii Fighter outfits. Despite the fact that Nintendo's highly famous crossover combat game, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, has officially released its last DLC character, Kingdom Hearts Sora, the game is still organizing events to highlight its other characters, such as the upcoming Street Fighter 35th Anniversary Event.

SNK Corporation has just launched SNK Vs Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash on the Nintendo eShop for $7.99, with SNK Official announcing the surprise debut with a trailer. Unlike other SNK Vs Capcom series products, which are mostly fighting games, Card Fighters' Clash is a digital collecting card game with 300 cards that include both SNK and Capcom character and action cards. Whereas the game's original release for the Neo Geo Pocket was split into two titles, an SNK and a Capcom version, this new edition includes not only both games but also their respective English and Japanese releases into one bundle. This basically provides individuals who buy the Switch edition with four games, each with their own unique save files. Players can also swap cards and combat between the SNK and Capcom versions of the game, however only in the Japanese or English versions.

SNK Vs Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash is a collectible card game similar to Magic: The Gathering in that players summon up to three fighters to the field and use them to assault the rival player's character cards or the player themselves. By employing Special Points generated when characters are placed on the field, the action cards can also be used for additional effects or combos. 

Those who were able to play the original Neo Geo Pocket editions of SNK Vs Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash will be able to relive their youth with this new release. With four versions of the game included in the package, players will be able to simply try out different decks and combos thanks to the new yet surprising Nintendo Switch game release.
