According to reports, The Sims 4 is listening to user feedback and may soon introduce configurable pronouns to its character creation screen.

The Sims 4 will not always offer the most realistic life simulation experience players can meet vampires, travel to outer space, and even purchase a property without going into debt. However, developer Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts have agreed to make several aspects of the game more realistic, and inclusive language is one of them. The Sims 4 developers have stated that they want players to be able to express their gender identification honestly in-game and that they are seeking to release a free update to the main game to address this problem.

Since its initial release in September 2014, The Sims 4 has received approximately fifty expansion packs, "game packs," "item packs," and "kits," which have added new areas to live in, new clothing, new home decor options, and more. The creators have given the year 2022 the theme "Something to Celebrate," and it promises even more fresh stuff. A credible source has even released a possible Sims 4 expansion pack, which would likely include carnival-themed outfits to the game.

The Sims 4 team announced impending new content for 2022 during a Livestream event on January 18. This featured a preview of the Customizable Pronouns system, which will be available as a free quality-of-life upgrade at an unknown future date, potentially in reaction to a fan request.

Players will be able to choose their Sim's pronouns when they create their character. She/Her, He/Him, and They/Them will be the default options, however, players can customize their pronouns in a configurable box. They'll be able to see sample phrases to get a sense of how these pronouns will seem in-game. To prevent players from abusing the pronoun system, Experience Designer Alister Lee confirmed that a profanity filter would be introduced.

One of the most common complaints about The Sims 4 in the eight years since its release has been the lack of configurable pronouns. Other issues raised by fans include the lack of an open world map, restricted options for child and teen Sims, and a lack of core content from prior games, which forces players to buy a lot of expansion packs to build their dream homes. Players are also looking for an announcement of The Sims 5's release date in the near future. When The Sims 5 is released, hopefully, it will include the configurable pronoun options that are currently being developed for The Sims 4.

As players wait for the next update, they may enjoy recent additions like the "Cottage Living" pack and the option to accomplish in-game Scenarios, which many perceive as EA's answer to the game's lack of a story mode previously.

For PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, The Sims 4 is available.
