Xbox gamers should do this before purchasing Elden Ring. Those who are planning on purchasing Elden Ring this month on Xbox One or Xbox Series X should do so first.

Elden Ring was first announced at Microsoft's E3 2019 press presentation, and fans have been eagerly anticipating its release ever since. Elden Ring, the highly-anticipated open-world game from FromSoftware, is now reaching its release date, with the highly-anticipated open-world game due to premiere on Friday, February 25. Pre-orders for Elden Ring are now available, but anyone purchasing the game on Xbox will want to do something first before paying for it.

Anyone who purchases Elden Ring between February 13 and March 9 will receive a 6,000-point punch card from Microsoft Rewards, provided they first activate the punch card by clicking "Activate punch card." Players should then click on the "Get ELDEN RING" task after activating the punch card, which will lead them to the Microsoft Store. Players may pre-order Elden Ring for $59.99 and receive an additional 6,000 reward points if they do so.

If you're not aware of the Microsoft Rewards program, it's something that any Xbox One or Xbox Series X gamer should have a look at. Microsoft Rewards points can be exchanged for digital cash, which can be used to make more purchases on the marketplace, as well as entries into other sweepstakes. Microsoft Rewards points can also be used to purchase Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass memberships. If you put forth enough effort each month to accomplish enough Xbox Game Pass objectives and Microsoft Rewards punch cards, you can make Game Pass pay on its own.

So, if you're thinking of buying Elden Ring on Xbox One or Xbox Series X anyway, make sure you activate this punch card beforehand. Otherwise, they are really wasting money. It's worth noting that this should work for both the original game and the Elden Ring Deluxe Edition, which costs $10 more and includes some bonus material. Players who pre-order either edition will receive the Adventure Guide, which contains additional information about the Lands Between, the realm in which Elden Ring is set.

Meanwhile, anyone who usually purchases digital games for their Xbox consoles should look into the Microsoft Rewards program, as similar punch cards are frequently offered for other major game releases. Bonus points are sometimes available in addition to purchases, such as for earning game achievements, albeit punch cards must be activated first.

Elden Ring will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on February 25.
