Jim Angle died at his home in Arlington, Virginia, on Wednesday. The reason for death was not revealed right away.
The legendary reporter joined the media hub when it first began in 1996. He began his Fox career as a Senior White House Correspondent, hosting "Special Report with Brit Hume" nightly.
Angle covered major events such as President Bill Clinton's reelection in 1996, his impeached trial in 1999, and even Barack Obama's presidential campaign at this time.
After that, he worked his way up the ranks, eventually becoming Chief National Correspondent in 2011 before trying again in 2014. Prior to joining Fox, he earned a BA in Political Science and an MA in Latin American Studies before working as a political reporter for CNN.
He also reported on politics for ABC News, where he participated in World News Tonight, Nightline, and Good Morning America. During his career, he won the Excellence in Financial Journalism Award in 1994 and 1995 for his economic reporting on Nightline.
"Jim was a FOX News original and a top Washington correspondent whose talent and gutsy reporting were unsurpassed," Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement following the shocking news of his death.
"He was a key participant in the establishment of our Washington bureau in 1996, and he was well-liked throughout the network for his down-to-earth approach, compassion, and constant smile.
"We send our heartfelt condolences to his entire family," the statement reads.
Brit Hume, a fellow anchor, said: "When I think about Jim, the first thing that comes to mind is him laughing. He did an excellent job.
"Jim knew exactly what we meant when we said "fair and balanced journalism." He was a fairly fair-minded man, but he was never dull. I missed him when he retired, and I will always miss him."
Angle leaves behind his brother George Angle, sister-in-law Alison Avagliano, and sons Spencer and Chris Pisinski.
