Epic Games and Fortnite are the single biggest corporate donors to Ukraine

Epic Games and Fortnite are the single biggest corporate donors to Ukraine
Epic Games and Microsoft have raised over $100 million for humanitarian relief in the ongoing Russo-Ukraine war through Fortnite in-game purchases. And there are still a few more days to go.

From March 20 through April 3, all revenues from real-money Fortnite purchases will be donated to four humanitarian organizations working in Ukraine: Direct Relief, UNICEF, the United Nations World Food Programme, and the United Nations Refugee Agency. "More companies will be added to this list in the coming weeks," the business said. Xbox agrees to work with Epic on this and has pledged its Fortnite net proceeds during this time.

Epic explained in a blog post that it will not wait for transactions to be fully cleared before releasing any funds received "within days."

It's difficult to put this figure in context, but if you check the list of foreign aid to Ukraine over this time period, Fortnite's contribution is greater than that of certain tiny countries. In terms of other firms, this appears to be by far the largest contribution (Facebook donated $15 million, Amazon $10 million, and Samsung roughly $6 million), however not all gifts can or have been measured financially—for example, SpaceX's assistance in providing its Starlink system.

The Fortnite pledge is still active for another seven days, they already raised the $100 million mark. It could be many more.  Fortnite appears to be the single largest corporate donor to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and the number will be even bigger by the end of the pledge period.

Epic and Microsoft deserve all of the credit for this, especially since the former opted to launch the donation drive on March 20, the same day that Chapter 3 Season 2 was released, which is when gamers will be purchasing battle passes and snazzy new skins. Epic will continue to give to Ukraine until April 3rd when the campaign finishes.
