A government source stated on Thursday that Germany is considering giving Ukraine 2,700 anti-aircraft missiles as it prepares to protect itself against a Russian invasion.
Earlier, the German news agency DPA claimed that the economy ministry had approved the supply of Soviet-made Strela missiles, which were part of the inventory of the former German Democratic Republic's army.
According to Reuters, the action has still to be approved by the Federal Security Council. "The missiles are ready to be transported," according to the source.
This would be in addition to the 1,000 anti-tank weaponry and 500 Stinger surface-to-air missiles that Germany announced on Saturday it would supply to Ukraine in a policy reversal following Russia's invasion of its neighbor.
