According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a shipment of 5.5 tons of goods is on its way to Ukraine, expressing Taiwan's government and people's support for the East European country in its time of need.

The supplies are part of a donation drive organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier this month for those impacted by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24. According to the government, the ensuing humanitarian crisis has pushed at least 3 million Ukrainians to depart their nation.

According to the MOFA, nearly 50 tons of supplies have been collected so far and will be transported in phases to countries that are taking in Ukrainian refugees, including Poland and Slovakia.

Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu stated during a ceremony at Taiwan's Taoyuan International Airport that people can fully connect to the situation in Ukraine because Taiwan is continually threatened by China.

The government is dedicated to showing that Taiwan Can Help Ukraine as a member of the democratic world by providing much-needed humanitarian aid, he added.

The minister also took the opportunity to thank volunteers, local businesses, and civic organizations for helping in the organizing and distribution of the supplies. Their unselfish acts are a true testament to Taiwanese people as a force for good, he remarked.

"Humanitarian supplies given by #Taiwan's freedom- and democracy-loving people are on route to the kindred spirits of #Ukraine impacted by #Russia's invasion," the MOFA said in a tweet on its official Twitter account. Minister Wu and their closest friends from Europe expressed their heartfelt gratitude and best wishes for the supplies. #StandWithUkraine.”
