On Saturday, a fifth Russian general was killed in action near the southern city of Kherson, according to Ukrainian officials.
Russian Lieutenant-General Andrei Mordvichev was the commander of the 8th General Army of the Armed Forces' Southern Military District when he was killed by "firing on the enemy," according to the Ukrainian army's general staff on Twitter.

According to Oleksiy Arestovych, a former presidential candidate adviser, the general was killed when Ukrainian forces targeted an airstrip in Chornobayivka, near Kherson Airport, that was being used as a temporary Russian base.
The death of the general has not been confirmed by the Kremlin.
Kherson was the first major city to fall under Russian control, although Ukrainian forces have been battling back.
This week, the Ukrainian military struck the temporary Russian base at Kherson Airport three times, damaging several helicopters and vehicles.
Russia has apparently lost more than a dozen top officers since beginning its invasion of Ukraine some weeks ago.
Ukraine reported on Saturday that it had killed over 14,400 Russian soldiers so far. USA estimates, up to 7,000 Russian troops have been killed.
