In the latest blow to Vladimir Putin's failed campaign, Russia has lost its eighth general since the invasion of Ukraine.

The deputy commander of the 8th Guards Combined Arms unit, Major General Vladimir Frolov, was given a military funeral in St Petersburg earlier today.

Major General Vladimir Frolov, the Deputy Commander of the 8th Army, was buried on Saturday in St. Petersburg, according to RIA Novosti, citing the city administration's press department. Frolov died during military operations in Ukraine.

The goodbye ceremony, which included Governor Aleksandr Beglov, was held with military honors at the Serafimovsky cemetery.

As his friend was laid to rest, the governor of St Petersburg said Frolov "sacrificed his life so that children, women, and the elderly in Donbas would not hear bombs explode again."

Alexander Beglov stated that the general came from a military family and "died the brave death in battle against Ukrainian nationalists."

He was described as a "genuine patriot, a bold and courageous man" who "honestly and until the end fulfilled his military and human duties."

According to reports today, Russia has also lost its 34th colonel of the war, tank battalion commander Miras Bashakov.

He was the 42nd high-ranking commander to die in a war that has decimated Putin's top leadership.

Vladimir Putin's claim that his special military operation' is going according to plan is debunked by the enormity of the death toll.

The total number of Russian casualties since the assault began on February 24 is estimated to be in the 20,000 range, although Moscow has refused to do is provide real information.
