The original Tales from the Borderlands, released in 2014 and developed by Telltale Games, is a five-part episodic game set on Pandora between the events of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3.
Gearbox is working on an "all-new Tales from the Borderlands adventure," which will be released later this year by 2K.
More information about the game will be released this summer, according to the studio.

In February, Take-Two publishing label 2K announced that the Borderlands franchise had sold over 74 million units.
Borderlands 2 is its best-selling title, with over 26 million copies sold, while Borderlands 3 is its fastest-selling title, with over 15 million copies sold.
Embracer Group, the parent company of Saber Interactive, paid $1.4 billion for Texas-based Gearbox last year.

Following the announcement, 2K stated that it would continue to collaborate with Gearbox on the Borderlands franchise and hinted at future collaborations.
Gearbox announced on Thursday that it intends to acquire the US-based studio Lost Boys Interactive, which co-created the recently released Borderlands spin-off Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.
Gearbox will gain over 220 team members as a result of the acquisition, bringing its global headcount to around 1,300.
