343 Industries has confirmed that Halo Infinite's long-awaited campaign co-op mode will be released in August.

The Microsoft studio revealed in its most recent development progress update that the online co-op mode will be available in "late August." According to the roadmap, split-screen will not be available until Season 3 in November at the earliest (embedded below).

Furthermore, 343 plans to introduce the ability to replay campaign missions in late August, and the open beta for Forge is set to begin in September.

343 announced last summer that Halo Infinite's campaign co-op and Forge mode would not be available when the game was released in December 2021. Instead, campaign co-op would be released alongside Halo Infinite Season 2 and Forge would be released during Season 3.

A further delay to the features was later confirmed when 343 extended Halo Infinite Season 1 until May 2022, which was originally scheduled to end early this year.

343 reiterates in its latest update that it prioritizes the health of its development team above all else, and admits that it isn't producing content for Infinite as quickly as it would like.

"We know we need to deliver more content and features faster," it wrote. "Remaining true to priority zero [on team health] requires us to slow down at times in order to stay healthy and move faster later." But we're also looking for ways to speed things up."

"For example, we want to get the Forge toolset into your hands as soon as possible so that awesome community maps and modes can make their way into the game." To accomplish this, we plan to hold an open beta for Forge later in Season 2.

"We've had Forge successfully in private flight with a limited audience for some time, so we've decided to skip a large-scale formal flight program and jump right into open beta."

"With this approach, we can get the core Forge tools to everyone faster while also remaining focused on our core priority of continuing to improve Halo Infinite's foundational aspects." Forge will continue to evolve and grow after the open beta period concludes."

Microsoft recently announced that Certain Affinity, a well-known support studio, has taken on additional Halo Infinite development responsibilities.

Season 2 of Halo Infinite begins on May 3 with new maps, modes, and other features.
