Japan grants $2.6 million to the purchase of medical equipment for Ukrainian hospitals

The Ukrainian and Japanese governments signed an agreement providing a USD 2.61 million grant to purchase specialized equipment for Ukrainian hospitals.

"Every day, we witness how the entire civilized world supports Ukraine and our healthcare system. Ukraine has lost a significant portion of its healthcare facilities, as well as the necessary equipment and materials, as a result of Russia's war.

As a result, the Ministry of Health's and our partners' efforts are focused on restoring the healthcare system's capacity so that patients in various parts of the country can access high-quality medical care "According to the Government portal, Deputy Health Minister Oleksii Yaremenko said.

Ukraine aims to use the grant money from Japan to buy endoscopes and other medical equipment, as well as train medical personnel.

On April 15, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft agreement between the Governments of Ukraine and Japan, which outlines the terms and conditions for obtaining a loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency to carry out a joint project with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development titled "Second Economic Recovery Development Policy Loan."
