Russia was suspended from World Tourism Organization

The Russian Federation has been suspended from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and its rights and privileges as a member of the United Nations specialized agency have been removed with immediate effect.

Members of the UNWTO General Assembly debated Russia's suspension from the organization, which was approved by the UNWTO Executive Council during an emergency meeting last month. Before the discussion, the Russian delegation refused to get up and explain its viewpoint, instead of announcing its exit from the UNWTO.

The Assembly voted massively in favor of suspension, far exceeding the required two-thirds majority. The decision takes effect immediately, whereas voluntary withdrawal takes effect one year after a Member submits an official communication via the appropriate channels.

Tourism is a pillar of peace and international friendship, and UNWTO members must uphold these values or face the consequences, with no exceptions.

This was reported by "European Truth," which referenced the UNWTO's Twitter page.

"Members of the UNWTO want to remove Russia of its powers. Members of the UNWTO's first extraordinary General Assembly reviewed Russia's removal from the organization. Russia declined to defend its position and announced its departure from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) "The statement is as follows:

It is important that Russia has followed its typical practice of being the first to announce its withdrawal after an agreement has been reached on the question of its exclusion.

The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is a United Nations specialized agency charged with promoting responsible, sustainable, and public tourism.

Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine's foreign minister, has already reacted to the UNWTO decision.

"I appreciate all of the members that helped me take this step. The Hague should be the exclusive destination for Russian war criminals. With each passing day of its war on Ukraine, Russia's isolation will grow "He is a writer.
