The Pokémon Company is said to have achieved a record financial year

According to an industry consultant, the Pokémon Company had a "record" financial year.

Although a private company is not required to release its full financial statements, some corporations have abridged versions of their results published in the Kanp, the Japanese government's official gazette.

According to Gamebiz.jp, The Pokémon Company's financial statement is included in today's Kanp, and it shows sales of 204 billion ($1.6 billion) and a net profit of 41 billion ($322 million).

These results are a "record financial year" for Kantan Games, according to independent gaming industry consultant Dr Serkan Toto of Kantan Games, with a net profit increasing 123%  year-on-year.

The company's financial results include the 12-month period leading up to the end of February 2022, which includes sales of Pokémon products introduced in the preceding 12 months.

This contains Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and New Pokémon Snap.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus was the fastest-selling Pokémon game on Switch in its debut week, selling 6.5 million units. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, on the other hand, sold six million copies in their first week.

Legends had sold 12.64 million copies by the end of March 2022, while Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl had sold 14.65 million.

Legends' figures are especially notable because it is a single-player game, as opposed to Pokémon's regular two-player releases (which can result in increased sales as particularly dedicated fans buy both variations).

In a review of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, it was termed "the best game in the series in years" and "the breath of new air the series has needed for so long."

"It may not have been obvious from the trailers, but this is one of the most exciting, engaging, and absorbing games in the entire history of the Pokémon series, and is strongly recommended to both long-time fans and complete newbies," the statement continued. source
