Sims 4 Latest Expansion Pack |
The Sims 4 High School Years expansion pack, which will be released on July 28th, will push you back to high school. The thought of reliving those years makes my palms sweat. Those years were stressful, not to mention acne-infested, and I wouldn't do it again in real life. However, sending some of my Sims to high school sounds like delicious chaos. Nerds, hurry up; we're going to prom!
Your Sims will attend Copperdale High (definitely not Riverdale) and tell personal stories of "self-discovery and drama," according to High School Years lead producer George Pigula in a release. An announcement trailer depicts the highs and lows of those adolescent years, from walking the halls of Copperdale High and dealing with horrible locker stench to football games and cheerleading practice.
The theme of this pack was obvious to eagle-eyed Sims fans, but now a brand-new trailer and official announcement have confirmed we'll be getting a more thorough, fleshed-out teenage Sim experience. Your teenagers will be able to attend classes in person, decorate their lockers, and hang out around the school building, rather than being shipped off to some mysterious void each morning. There will also be major events for teen sims to attend, such as proms and graduations, with the latter likely working similarly to the University Life expansion.
Teens appear to be getting more traits, behaviors, and interaction options that will help differentiate them from young adult and adult sims. It appears that they will have more interactions centered on pranks and other mischief, as well as the ability to sneak out past curfew, skip class, or ask their crushes out on a date. I'm also hoping to satisfy my boba addiction in the virtual world, as the trailer depicts a group of teens grabbing the delightful bubbly beverage.
School is in session on July 28 ✨ 📝 so step into the classroom & live the best (or the most awkward) years in #TheSims4HighSchoolYears Expansion Pack 😎Available Now for Preorder!https://t.co/XunFDdIVa7 pic.twitter.com/3W5ZCVwLwo— The Sims (@TheSims) June 30, 2022
"Sims will learn to balance school and extracurricular activities, make lifelong friends, and experience life-changing events like prom," Pigula said. "With the new Trendi app, which features clothes designed by Depop sellers, they can even develop their own fashion likes and dislikes." We wanted to give players the opportunity to create and customize their own, personalized high school experiences before their Sims reach young adulthood because high school is an incredibly formative time."
Teen Sims will, of course, attend classes and clubs, but they'll also hang out at local boba shops and go on dates at the Plumbite Pier, which looks like an adorable fair straight out of a music video. Of course, there's Copperdale High prom, which means you'll have another chance to nail that promposal and choose a dress that won't make you cringe years later.
The Sims' development team also collaborated with Depop to expand in-game fashion. Your Sims can spend their Simoleons at the thrift store and boba shop ThrifTea (which I would have loved in high school) and then sell them on the Trendi app in-game. Popular Depop sellers such as Bella McFadden (iGirl), Lapoze McTribouy (Sooki Sooki Vintage), Selena Williams (Selenas Shop), and others designed the clothing.
We won't know how true this experience is until July. Fans have already spotted a detail that adds to the truthfulness of the experience — that Superman S we were all drawing:

The Sims 4 High School Years will be released on July 28th, with a couple of bonus items if you preorder the expansion. Personally, I'd recommend waiting until the expansion is released. After all, it could be a smash hit like Werewolves or a shambles like My Wedding Stories.
The Sims 4 High School Years expansion pack will be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One on July 28.
