Rumors are floating that NASA's Space Launch System rocket launch for the Artemis 1 mission has been postponed because the Artemis 1 launch was canceled due to an engine bleed problem.

NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) rocket is currently on the launch pad, awaiting approval to launch the Artemis 1 mission to the Moon.

NASA has announced on social media that its Artemis 1 mission is currently on "unplanned hold" while the team works on an issue with engine 3 on the SLS's core stage. According to the NASA livestream above, there was a hydrogen leak that caused a temperature failure. The problem is being investigated as the launch window opens in about 30 minutes from the time this article is published.

Eric Berger, Senior Space Editor at Ars Technica, recently tweeted that he is hearing rumors that "today's a scrub," but that "no confirmation yet." In response to Berger's initial tweet, the senior space editor wrote 30 minutes later, "I'd consider this more than a rumor now."

Update: NASA has since taken to its livestream to provide an update on the launch, announcing that today's launch has been canceled. The launch has been canceled due to the aforementioned hydrogen leak, which caused an engine bleed. Engineers were unable to find a solution to the engine bleed, and depending on test data currently being gathered, NASA may postpone the launch to the next available launch window on September 2.

NASA will release more information about the scrubbed launch as it becomes available. More articles will be added soon.
