There are rumors that Sony is working a Days Gone movie

The following PlayStation series to receive a feature film adaptation is reportedly Days Gone. The next game franchise to be adapted by PlayStation Productions is reportedly the PS4 title.

The Days Gone movie project is being worked on by Sony's PlayStation Productions division with Up in the Air and X-Men: First Class story credit-holder and Oscar nominee Sheldon Turner, according Deadline report.

Sam Heughan, a Scottish actor best known for his roles in Bloodshot and Outlander, is reportedly being considered for the lead role of Deacon St. John, with the script being described as "a love ballad to motorcycle movies."

After a worldwide pandemic, the Pacific Northwest is where the Bend Studio game is set. In order to find his missing partner, the game follows former motorcycle club member Deacon St. John as he battles to survive against mutated, predatory humans.

Fans of the Days Gone video game, who recently had many reasons to believe Sony had all but abandoned it, are likely to welcome the big screen adaptation.

The game's leads left the company after a Bloomberg report from last year claimed that PlayStation had rejected plans for the sequel.

Days Gone's director claims it sold around 10 million copies, but Sony has not provided official sales figures. The company will likely be disappointed by Days Gone's Metacritic score of 71 because it is accustomed to its first-party releases receiving almost universal positive reviews.

Days Gone director Jeff Ross, who left Bend Studio in 2020 after about 20 years with the company, acknowledged in a public statement last year that he had once been working on a Days Gone 2 pitch.

Later, Ross criticized Sony for allegedly "making Bend Studio feel like it was a big disappointment" through their actions.

Days Gone had been in theaters for over 8 million viewings at the time the director parted ways with Sony, he wrote. "Since then, it has sold more copies and more than a million copies on Steam. The local studio management always gave us the impression that it was a huge letdown.

Bend Studio is developing a new IP and "building on the deep open-world systems that they developed with Days Gone," according to Sony Interactive Entertainment.
