Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will receive Story and Pokedex Guidebooks

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet appear to have a plethora of information for fans to explore, as three official guidebooks for the games will be released.

Three official guidebooks will be released alongside the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, covering a variety of topics, including one focusing solely on the story and another on the Pokedex. Scarlet and Violet, the ninth mainline entries in the Pokemon franchise, look to shake up the traditional formula fans are used to when they release in November. Players will see a lot of new things soon, from adding a ton of new exploration options through Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's open Paldea region to bringing in a lot of new Pokemon to fill that setting.

The sheer amount of information that players face in any game can be overwhelming at times, and while strategy guides can help a gamer figure out where they're supposed to go or how to locate a specific item, on occasion, a company will publish a guidebook for its game. Pokemon isn't the only franchise that has released a slew of guidebooks in the past. When Monster Hunter World first came out, players could purchase a massive book full of tips and tricks.

On Twitter, Pokemon insider Joe Merrick revealed that the latest games will include not one, not two, but three guidebooks to help players explore the Paldea region. According to Merrick, these guides will initially be available only in Japan, and the first book for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be available when the games are released on November 18. This guide will give players a general overview of the paths they can take but will not go into great detail.

The second guide, a story guide, will be released on December 16. The third and final book, which will be a full Pokedex guide for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Paldea region, will be released on February 2, 2023. It's unclear whether these books will be released in English, but Merrick pointed out that Pokemon Sword and Shield experienced major leaks following the release of their English guide. There was no English guidebook for either Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, or Legends: Arceus.

The reason for three books to reveal everything Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have to offer is most likely due to the games' expanded narratives. Rather than simply going on a quest to be the best there ever was, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has three stories for players to complete, one centered on the traditional path to becoming a champion, another on tracking down and catching huge legendary Pokemon, and the third on taking on Team Star.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be available on Nintendo Switch on November 18th.
