Players of Fortnite are dissatisfied as the Hurdle Mechanic returns with glitches and bugs

The recent removal of Fortnite's new hurdle mechanic has resulted in its return, but players have also discovered that the related bugs have done the same.

Epic Games has temporarily disabled the new hurdle mechanic in Fortnite, but players have discovered that it has now been enabled again along with all of the associated bugs and glitches. For Epic Games' massive online battle royale, Fortnite's most recent season has proven to be a significant one. Along with the addition of a new island and new content like crossovers with My Hero Academia, DOOM, and The Witcher, Epic has also made a number of technical improvements.

The most significant change to Fortnite in Chapter 4 is the use of Unreal Engine 5, which gives the game a visual power boost with Lumen, Nanite, Virtual Shadow Maps, and Temporal Super Resolution. There were also new mechanics added, like auto-mantling, which allows players to jump over lower objects like fences. Mantling, however, had a few problems that Epic wanted to address, so the feature was disabled in December to address some of the strange behaviors.

After a few weeks, Epic reactivated mantling in Fortnite, but players have noticed that many of the issues and odd behaviors have returned as well, leaving many players to wonder what changed. The main problem that players encountered was that auto-mantling occasionally propelled players very high into the air. Following the mechanic's return in the most recent patch, a Fortnite subReddit user by the name of RoyalMannequin encountered the same problem and was launched into the air while attempting to loot a nearby treasure chest. After approaching the treasure, the mechanic automatically activates, and the RoyalMannequin soars high above the map before most likely collapsing to their death.

Even though the glitch received a lot of sympathetic comments, many people went on to share similar experiences after the Fortnite update brought the mechanic back. One user alleged that they were thrown to a completely different area of the map as opposed to being launched. Others argue that despite the bugs, the mechanic is ultimately poorly implemented because the game has trouble figuring out when to activate, causing some players to automatically fall off ledges or buildings. Therefore, many are urging for its permanent removal.

Sadly, this isn't the only brand-new feature in Chapter 4 that has upset players. A glitch in the recently added Shockwave Hammer allowed users to bounce indefinitely to move quickly and gave them access to devastating attacks and high mobility. Naturally, this provided users with an unfair advantage and made it simple for them to eliminate other players, which led Epic Games to remove it until a fix could be made.

Fortnite is available on mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
