Bungie and Sony are working together on a number of unannounced projects

Bungie creative director Tom Farnsworth has stated that the studio is working on a number of unannounced projects with Sony. The studio previously stated that it intends to release at least one new IP by 2025.

Farnsworth said in a Twitter post that the studio has "completely changed" how it develops games and does business over the course of 25-plus Destiny content releases, "moving from strictly boxed products to live service games". "And with Sony's support, we're also working on a number of unannounced projects," he added.

Bungie stated in February 2021 that it planned to bring at least one new IP to market before 2025, in addition to its ongoing work on Destiny 2. In June of this year, Sony paid $3.6 billion to acquire the studio.

Prior to the transaction's completion, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida stated that the acquisition of Halo creator Bungie was motivated in part by a desire for PlayStation to become more of a multiplatform business. He added, "We think it will be a catalyst to improve our live game services capabilities. "Our acquisition of Bungie also represents a significant step forward in our efforts to become more multiplatform."

Sony has stated that it intends to have 12 live service titles on the market by the end of its fiscal year in March 2026, up from three in the current fiscal year.

By 2025, the traditionally console-focused company anticipates that half of its yearly releases will be available on PC and mobile.

Bungie is reportedly working on a new Destiny game for mobile in collaboration with Chinese tech and gaming behemoth NetEase, which invested $100 million in the Bellevue, Washington-based studio in 2018.
