The Dunkey's Game Publishing Company releases its first game

The first game from Bigmode Games, Dunkey's publishing company, has been announced more than three months after the company was revealed.

Co-founder of the business Dunkey revealed the first game that Bigmode Games will release. The YouTuber Dunkey and his wife Leah established Bigmode Games to promote and support independent game developers.

One of the most well-known gaming YouTubers today is Videogamedunkey, who is also known as Jason Yevgeniy Gastrow. His dedication to covering a wide range of games, from major AAA releases to independent titles like the acclaimed 2015 indie hit Undertale, sets him apart from many of his contemporaries. Fans and critics alike have been anticipating what the couple's indie game publishing company Bigmode Games would release first ever since he announced its founding in September 2022.

At the beginning of the video "Dunkey's Best of 2022," viewers of Dunkey's channel had the opportunity to see what Bigmode Games has been working on. The video began with a statement that Bigmode would be the publisher of the game Animal Well from Shared Memory, which was founded by developer Billy Basso, a former employee of Level Ex Inc. and NetherRealm Studios. The game was initially announced the previous year and even received some attention at the 2022 Summer Game Fest. The game will be released on PC and PS5, according to Bigmode Games' Twitter account.

Animal Well, described on Bigmode Game's website as "a pixelated wonder rendered in intricate audio and visual detail," is a game that Basso created in his spare time over five years ago. Dan Adelman, a veteran of the gaming industry, will join Basso in 2021 to help with business and marketing. Adelman was previously involved in the launch of Xbox Live Arcade as well as the release of Cave Story, Shovel Knight, and other indie games on Nintendo consoles.

As a result  many of them being featured on websites like YouTube and Twitch, independent games have enjoyed tremendous success in recent years. A great example of this is the game Among Us, which would go on to become one of the most popular indie games of all time and one of the best social games available right now. Some independent games have even gained popularity years after release and turned into sleeper hits. Dunkey hasn't shied away from highlighting independent games on his channel, and thanks to Bigmode, he now has a better platform to draw attention to indie titles that might have otherwise slipped people's notice.
