A dataminer unearths Fortnite first-person mode files, potentially revealing a brand-new mode coming soon to the Epic Games game.
A first-person mode for Fortnite may be coming soon, according to a data miner. The information was released after Fortnite received an update on all platforms that revealed the potential new mode.
Fortnite was first introduced in 2017 and has since grown in popularity. Fortnite is credited with YouTube Gaming's successful year in 2022 due to its massive online presence. However, in-game, Epic Games keeps the game fresh with regular updates and fresh content. Fortnite Chapter Four was released in December 2022 with a number of brand-new changes, most notably a brand-new map for players to explore and a switch to Unreal Engine 5, which significantly improved the game's graphics.
Shiina, a dataminer, revealed the possibility of a first-person mode by sharing a screenshot on Twitter. Shiina quickly revealed that the first-person mode files had apparently been added with the new update. Whether first-person would only be available in the Battle Royale mode or if it would also be available in the Creative mode is currently unknown. The addition of the files may only be for testing rather than teasing a future feature, so there are many questions about the update. It was first speculated about in June 2022, so this isn't the first time players have heard of a possible first-person mode in Fortnite.

New game modes are frequently added to Fortnite. The No Build mode that Epic Games added to Fortnite last year is now just as well-liked as the Build mode that gave the game its initial popularity. A switch to a first-person viewpoint, however, would be uncharted territory for Fortnite. First-person would undoubtedly be optional, but switching to a different point of view would be unexpected. Selling players cosmetic skins forms a large part of Fortnite's business model. If players are unable to see themselves in-game, it would be much more difficult to accomplish that.
Fortnite frequently gets new game modes. The No Build mode that Epic Games added to Fortnite last year is currently equally popular as the Build mode that first made the game well-known. However, a change to a first-person perspective would be novel for Fortnite. It would be possible to play without using first person, but doing so would be unexpected. A significant component of Fortnite's business model is the sale of players' cosmetic skins. It would be much more challenging to do that if players are unable to see themselves in-game.
Fortnite is available for mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
