16. Baker Beach, San Francisco
Baker Beach, located within San Francisco's protected Presidio area, provides easy access to some of the city's best views. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Lands End, the Marin Headlands, and the Golden Gate Bridge from the mile-long shore. Head to the beach to sunbathe on the clean golden sand (the northern end is clothing-optional), or bring your fishing gear for a day of fishing. Baker Beach's proximity to towering serpentine cliffs also makes it a popular hiking destination, so plan on spending some time on the California Coastal Trail, one of several trails in the Presidio.
