 New Box Art Is Coming To Xbox Games.The adjustments may appear little at first glance, yet they represent a significant improvement.

Microsoft is updating the standard box art for Xbox games less than a year after introducing the Xbox Series X|S in an effort to make it simpler for users to know which Xbox console an Xbox game on the shelf is compatible with.

The modification was initially noticed by Xbox News:

So they're eliminating the previous green band from the top of the box and replacing it with a little Xbox emblem on the left, as well as changing out a little black bar for a larger white box. The smart delivery and Series X logos are still present in the upper right corner, but they are now printed directly on the game image rather than inside the green band.

The update is already visible on future game press and shop listings:

It appeals to me. It truly appeals to me. All of the same information is present, but the smaller Xbox logo is more aesthetically pleasing, and the black lettering on a white backdrop is much simpler to read and draw the eye too. Most importantly, it allows the cover image to take center stage.

Of course, if Microsoft could just name its consoles like a regular corporation, none of this would have been necessary, but we're past the point of hoping for that, so cleaner revisions are our best-case scenario.
