Twitch has banned Amouranth and Indiefoxx after their controversial 'ASMR Meta' streams

Twitch has banned Amouranth and Indiefoxx after their controversial 'ASMR Meta' streams

Amouranth and Indiefoxx, two Twitch streamers, have planned to take the weekend off. Their "time outs" were not voluntarily taken, since both were recently banned from using the streaming site. Twitch banned Kaitlyn Michelle Siragusa and Jenelle Dagres, also known as Amouranth and Indiefoxx on Twitch, for repeatedly broadcasting overtly sexual ASMR videos.

Twitch has not verified this is the cause for the ban spree as of this writing, but considering who the targets are and that all of the bans occurred at once, it's likely that it's for said streamer's participation in the new "ASMR TikTok Leggings Yoga Meta," also known as the "ASMR Meta."

This new meta emerged out of nowhere, much like the Hot Tub broadcasts before it, with many of the same streamers engaged. As you may recall, Amouranth and IndieFoxx were at the heart of the first Hot Tub meta, and they were also at the heart of the current ASMR meta. They've been blacklisted by the platform for their problems, however it's unclear whether the bans are temporary or permanent.

Twitch has not addressed the contentious new meta in any way other than these bans as of the time of publication. As you may recall, it took a long time to handle the equally contentious Hot Tub meta, so this is unlikely to change very soon, and it may not change at all if these bans kill the meta, which has yet to reach the same level of popularity as the Hot Tub meta.

Twitch appears to be cracking down on ASMR feeds, and it has already banned two of the industry's top stars. They have a combined audience of over four million people that watch their material.

Fans are asking , why are two of the most prominent ASMR streams in the world being banned?

However, the bans came after a number of Twitch users, including many of the platform's top broadcasters, began to protest the pattern and Twitch's lack of response.

What are the reactions of the Twitch community to the bans?

To say the least, the comments on Twitter are mixed. Some said the restrictions were unfair, while others said they shouldn't even be calling themselves content providers.

As previously said, this is Twitch's lone action thus far, and it remains to be seen if the pattern has any longer-term implications for the platform. Regardless of the case, Twitch will need to clearly clarify limits and create conspicuous guidelines for such situations. It's fair to predict that the ASMR category will remain quiet for the time being.

We'll be sure to update the article if Twitch makes a comment or takes any more steps. Meanwhile, please feel free to leave a comment and tell us what you think.
